Infrastructure: an asset class that is growing dynamically worldwide

Infrastructure projects offer interesting investment opportunities for private capital because they are long-term investments that tend to promise attractive, predictable returns and generally entail a limited amount of risk. Returns from infrastructure projects offer implicit protection against inflation because the fees for government construction projects are often adjusted for inflation on an ongoing basis. In addition, infrastructure projects tend to be less dependent on economic cycles due to their long-term character.

In light of the global financial and economic crisis, many countries are currently implementing additional infrastructure programmes in order to boost the economy and secure jobs. In many cases, particularly in the emerging markets, governments are funding infrastructure projects with the currency reserves they built up with export earnings in past years. Companies that finance and implement infrastructure projects or manufacture products and machines for this purpose are profiting greatly from this. They are now located in the developed industrial countries as well as in the emerging markets.

The Raiffeisen-Infrastruktur-Aktien fund invests globally in the shares from these companies.
