Comprehensive quality assessment

Awards and quality seals do more than just evaluate the performance of a fund, as qualitative criteria and investment strategies are often also included in the assessment. Thus, the scope can go beyond an evaluation of the product alone and encompass the entire company involved.

Raiffeisen Kapitalanlage GmbH (Raiffeisen Capital Management) and its products are constantly being assessed by independent institutions and regularly receive awards. For example, the sustainability approach itself has generated top awards for the company.

Strict assessment criteria

The scope of assessment for issuing quality seals and awards is as comprehensive as it is diverse. Key criteria include performance over certain time periods based on the Sharpe ratio* and in-depth qualitative analyses, for example covering the investment process, or the expertise of the fund management team as a whole. The ability to maintain consistently high quality over a longer period of time is another factor taken into consideration. Individual awards are thus based on the assessment of different criteria. Here are some examples of why Raiffeisen Capital Management or a specific fund has earned an award:

  • Solid expertise in sustainability.

  • The development of a proprietary ESG indicator which incorporates a range of input factors and quantifies the ESG level of the invested company as a whole; it forms the basis for the ESG rating.

  • Excellent quality and expertise in managing sustainable fund strategies.

In this regard, the stringent ESG approach was highlighted, thanks to which responsible management can be harmonised with the mitigation of investment risks.

  • The fund management team’s top-notch expertise, which is responsible for the consistent success of the ESG branch and is constantly being expanded and refined. The focused SRI approach corresponds with Raiffeisen KAG’s long-term strategy of transitioning the entire product range to a sustainability basis.

* The Sharpe ratio measures the performance of an investment such as a security or portfolio compared to a risk-free asset, after adjusting for its risk. It is defined as the difference between the returns of the investment and the risk-free return, divided by the standard deviation of the investment returns. It represents the additional amount of return that an investor receives per unit of increase in risk.
